Pilates

My Pilates journey began when I was having regular Physio for problems with my neck and hip. The Physio recommended Pilates and gave me some exercises to help with the pain. He suggested that high-intensity exercise could be exacerbating my problems. I loved high-intensity exercise but had to admit that my pain was getting worse. I wanted to find a way to utilise my personal training skills to help myself and others keep fit without causing more pain and potential injuries.

I began looking into Pilates and the history around it, and eventually started taking classes and loved it! Through Pilates, I have observed that without correcting the weak or misaligned areas within my body I was tending to overcompensate or overdevelop in other areas. The more I practised Pilates the less pain I was in! It also helped me destress and significantly improved my sleep!
I went on to complete my level 3 in Mat Based Pilates. I am so grateful for the journey that led me here! My body still has its limitations like most people but it’s now stronger, more flexible and mostly pain-free.
Following the principles of Pilates, I can still enjoy high-intensity exercise again, however, I’m far happier on my mat practising Pilates these days.
